The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad, under the direct guidance of its Dean, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, and the supervision of the Administrative Assistant, Dr. Thamer Hammad Rajah, has launched a comprehensive plan aimed at maintaining and rehabilitating its facilities in line with the requirements of a modern educational environment.
The campaign included extensive cleaning of courtyards and buildings, as well as the rehabilitation of gardens and the planting of green spaces to provide a vibrant and aesthetic atmosphere. It also covered the renovation of sports halls for handball, volleyball, basketball, and squash, in addition to installing shades across the college gardens, and upgrading service facilities to ensure full readiness of the infrastructure.
Prof. Khalaf emphasized that these efforts reflect the college’s commitment to providing a safe, modern, and healthy academic environment that meets the needs of contemporary higher education and ensures a smooth and efficient start to the new academic year for both students and faculty members. These initiatives also contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
